If you’ve just adopted a cat, one of the biggest questions is:
“How many times should I feed my cat every day?”
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! 🐾
- Kittens Need to Eat More Often
Kittens grow fast and need more energy.
- Below 6 months old: Feed them 3–4 times a day
- 6–12 months old: You can reduce to 2–3 times a day
💡 Tip: Choose kitten food specially made for growth and development, like Profamily Mother & Baby series.
- Adult Cats (1–7 years old)
Most adult cats do well with 2 meals a day—morning and evening.
Some owners also free-feed using kibble (dry food), but make sure you control the total amount to prevent overeating.
- Senior Cats (Above 7 years old)
Older cats may eat smaller meals more often if they have lower appetite or dental issues.
Watch their weight and adjust the amount accordingly.
- Dry or Wet Food – Does It Affect Feeding Frequency?
Not really. You can feed dry, wet, or a mix of both, but remember:
- Dry food is more calorie-dense
- Wet food gives more moisture (great for cats who don’t drink enough water)
You can feed:
Dry food in the morning,
Wet food in the evening — many cats enjoy this!
- Don’t Forget Portion Size
No matter how often you feed, the total daily amount matters most.
Always check the feeding guideline on your cat food packaging.
- Every Cat Is Different
Some cats like smaller meals more often. Some like a big breakfast and light dinner.
💙 It’s okay—just make sure they’re healthy and eating the right amount each day.
